Professional Experience:

Dr. Owens is a licensed psychologist, having joined Valley Psychological Center in 1981. He graduated from Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University. From 1983 until 1987 he served as clinical director of a sexual abuse treatment program in the Sacramento area.  In 1990 he joined the faculty of the Professional School of Psychology which later became Alliant International University. Dr. Owens taught doctoral level courses on psychological assessment and psychotherapy from 1991 until 2001. During 1990 and 1991 he was a clinical director for the Minirth-Meier West inpatient treatment program in Roseville. In 1996 he began teaching at Western Seminary, Sacramento. He served as director of their Marriage and Family Therapy program from 2000 until 2012. From 1997 until 2001 Dr. Owens worked with the California Board of Psychology as an oral examiner and also assisted in writing the State oral examinations for psychologists. He was an adjunct faculty member at William Jessup University from 2004 until 2010.  He served as director of New Life Community Counseling Center at Arcade Church in Sacramento from 1998 until 2011. He was a member of the leadership board of Bayside Church in Granite Bay from 2004 until 2009.
